Pork, and the production thereof, is vital to the economy of Harper County. While figures from the 2002 Agricultutral Census were not disclosed regarding swine, it is abundantly clear that this form of livestock is extremely prominent in the county. With several large pig farms scattered throughout the region, Harper County agriculture benefits greatly from the revenue that the rearing of swine generates.

In addition to swine being a great source of wealth for the region, the animals also present the county's youth with an opportunity to learn how to rear and care for an animal, and to develop animal handling skills at various stock shows.
