While still not the most popular livestock animal with Harper County farmers, goats are steadily becoming prevalent on many farms and small holdings within the county.

It is the relative versatility of goats that is now attracting attention from farmers, as they can be raised as meat producing animals, or bred for sale as show animals. As such, the number of goats being raised in Harper County has grown dramatically since the 2002 Agricultural Census.
