Life skills are those specific skills needed for a 4-H member to succeed as a productive citizen in everyday life. Some of the life skills learned by Harper County 4-H members are cooking and nutrition, healthy lifestyles, managing money effectively, communication, relationships, and many others that are important to member development.

4-H is committed to teaching these and other skills through a "learning by doing" philosophy. We know youth learn skills and retain what they have learned if this information allows them to have a hands-on learning experience. This is accomplished by offering educational information in an array of 4-H projects to meet individual interest.

4-H is an organization that is dependent on four strong partners to be successful. The first partner is a strong and dedicated member. The second is a committed group of volunteers. The third is a willing and able group of 4-H parents. The final advocate is the county extension staff. All of these supporters are vital to making this a desireable pool of resources.
